AI texture generation for traditional 3D
These images are not AI generated, it’s traditional 3D render.
AI is great but most of the times we still need the control of a traditional 3D scene. Good news? We can still make the most of both worlds.
Back in 2022, I was exploring new lookdev ideas for a breathing airway shot when Midjourney v2 was released.
The surreal dreamy abstraction of those early AI results captivated me, opening the project to also explore how these new shapes could be used as textures, resulting in these alien-like eye-catching textures never seen before, bringing great potential to science or sci-fi projects, where rich, intricate surfaces bring the scene to life.
Nowadays, with higher-quality results and more control over the process, these AI techniques allow to create any kind of texture, opening up fresh creative possibilities across every creative industry.
Bonus: Texture Generator
Cavity was created in 2022 with early versions of Midjourney and Materialize to generate the maps. But nowadays, all those steps can be simplified through the usage of ComfyUI, a tool thats it’s definitely becoming essential in the implementation of AI in the creative industry.
